Jim Tubman Chevrolet Sens Rink

Overview

The Jim Tubman Chevrolet Sens rink is now open.

The Jim Tubman Chevrolet Sens Rink is run through a joint partnership with the City of Ottawa and the Canterbury Community Association

To ensure that everyone is able to enjoy their time at the rink, we ask that you please respect the schedule posted below at all times.

  • The surface is not available for rent when the ice is in.
  • Inquiries regarding programs when there is ice, or rentals when there is no ice should be sent to JTCSensRink@ottawa.ca
  • Inquiries regarding programming when there is no ice should be sent to rink@cca-acc.ca

Rules of conduct

  • Follow instructions from City of Ottawa staff at all times.
  • Respect the rink skating schedule as posted.
  • Exit the surface during ice maintenance.
  • Children 10 and under must be actively supervised by someone 16+ years.
  • During events that permit the use of pucks, pucks will be kept below waist level.
  • You are personally responsible for ensuring that you are fit to participate in physical activities. If you have a condition affecting your ability to participate, you must take appropriate safety precautions.
  • Respect all levels of play and all age groups.
  • It is highly recommended that all skaters wear a certified multi-impact helmet.
  • It is highly recommended that all skaters ten years of age and under as well as any new or weak skaters of any age wear a CSA approved helmet during skating sessions.
  • Helmets, face cages, neck guards, and gloves are highly recommended at all times when sticks and pucks are allowed on ice.

The following activities are not allowed and could result in immediate removal:

  • Shooting hockey pucks above waist level.
  • Rough play, speed and figure skating, and multiplayer games (i.e. tag and races), foul language or inappropriate behaviour.
  • Carrying children while on the ice surface (including baby carriers).
  • Smoking or loitering on the ice or near the facility.
  • Alcohol or drug use anywhere on City property.
  • No cross-checking or any behavior that could result in injury.
  • Food and drinks on the ice surface.
  • Skating when the rink is closed.
  • The sale and distribution of any products or services anywhere in the park, unless authorized by the City.

Wheelchairs, strollers and skating Aids:

  • Only E-Z gliders are permitted as an aid.
  • Wheelchairs and strollers are permitted on the ice, with the accompaniment of someone 16+ years, who is wearing skates.
  • Certified multi-impact helmets are highly recommended for wheelchair and stroller occupants.
  • Sand and salt must be removed from wheels prior to entering the rink.

The City of Ottawa does not accept responsibility for rink-related risks or injuries.

Skating descriptions:

  • Public Skate:

    • Sticks and pucks are prohibited.
    • Unsupervised, leisure skating session for all ages and abilities.
    • Wheelchairs and strollers are permitted.
    • CSA approved helmets are highly recommended for wheelchair and stroller occupants over 12 months.
  • Pick-up Hockey:

    • Unsupervised, recreational and non-contact session, open to all ages and abilities.
    • First-come, first-served with a suggested maximum of 20 players and two goalies per session.
  • Pick-up Ringette:

    • Unsupervised, recreational and non-contact session, open to all ages and abilities.
    • First-come, first-served with a suggested maximum of 20 players and two goalies per session.
  • Women’s Pick-up Hockey:

    • An unsupervised, recreational and non-contact session, open to all ages and abilities.
    • First-come, first-served with a suggested maximum of 20 players and two goalies per session.
  • U12 Pick-up Hockey:

    • Unsupervised, recreational and non-contact session, open to 12 years and under and all abilities.
    • First-come, first-served with a suggested maximum of 20 players and two goalies per session.
  • U16 Pick-up Hockey:

    • Unsupervised, recreational and non-contact session, open to 16 years and under and all abilities.
    • First-come, first-served with a maximum of 20 players and two goalies per session recommended.
