The City of Ottawa's latest Transportation Master Plans set out the vision for how a transportation system would benefit residents in the future. In the most recent TMP (2013), it is intended that the transportation system will enhance resident's

"...quality of life, by supporting social, environmental and economic sustainability in an accountable and responsive manner."

Some of the key elements of this vision for the transportation system are to reduce automobile dependence, meet mobility needs, and protect public health and safety. New transportation projects implemented by the City over recent years have adhered to these considerations, directly addressing the components of the vision by, for example, making walking and cycling more attractive than driving for short trips, and giving priority to public transit in accommodating future travel demand.

Photos and key information from a selection of transportation facilities has been compiled into an online presentation where you can learn more about some of the recent pedestrian, cycling and transit projects implemented throughout the city.
