January 8 to 26, 2018
The City of Ottawa is proposing to construct a new section of sidewalk on Star Top Road from the existing sidewalk in the southeast corner of Cyrville Road to the existing driveway approximately 50 metres south of Cyrville Road.
This project is a Phase 1 project from the Council-approved 2013 Ottawa Pedestrian Plan. The provision of a sidewalk on Star Top Road aligns with the City’s transportation goals and objectives to maximize walkability.
The new sidewalk will connect the existing concrete sidewalk at the southeast corner of the intersection to the existing paved shoulder along the east side of Star Top Road.
The project will complete a missing link in the pedestrian network providing improved connectivity to public transit along Cyrville Road and providing greater walkability in this commercial area. Providing a complete sidewalk/paved shoulder on the east side of Star Top Road will provide an uninterrupted facility for pedestrians.
The proposed sidewalk will be generally be installed within the City’s right-of-way. Landscaping and other features within the right-of-way may be impacted.
The project is currently in the planning stage, which will be followed by design. Construction is expected to start in late 2018 or 2019.
The drawing below shows the location of the proposed sidewalk.
