Biographies

AM Dumouchel is a photographer and sculptor. She is interested in the concept of metamorphosis: those we see and those we experience. She lives and works between Gatineau and Ottawa.

Beth Shepherd is an Ottawa-based artist working in printmaking, photography, video, sculpture, and text. Situated at the intersection of ecology, animal advocacy, and ecocritical art history, her multi-year art-research projects explore the non-human world and humanity’s impacts on it. Carmel Whittle, Mi'kmaw/Irish 2S cultural community artist, activist, independent film maker, storyteller, visual artist and musician/songwriter.  Director-Curator for No Borders Art Festival, and art consultant and coordinator for the McMaster University, Echoes From This Land, TRC 94 Calls to Action, print project, and recent films include Carrying Each Other Finding Ourselves."  Presently working with the Indigenous Circle, Ottawa Public Interest Research group, Opirg, University of Ottawa.

Carmina Miana is an Ottawa-based interdisciplinary artist. Her work in stop motion animation, fibre, sculpture, and photography examines the complexities of care and sacrifice, as well as the histories embedded in materials. Drawing from her Filipino diaspora experiences, Miana's art invites viewers to engage with themes of transformation and belonging.

Debra James Percival: I am an Artist Printmaker and graduated NSCAD in 1984. Being an artist has always been my way of life. My artwork is influenced by my zest for exploring possibilities through experimentation, playing with my imagined world and I am directly influenced by family, music and the environment around me.

Don Monet at the Gardener’s House focuses his practice on landscape, photo-collage, and acrylic painting on birch plywood. Through photo-collage and acrylic paint, he creates sequences of fractured photos which are then unified through paint and traditional landscape techniques. Co-Founder and director of Cube Gallery, Ottawa (2005-present), Don has organized dozens of thematic group exhibitions and solo shows and provided a venue for hundreds of artists.

Martin Vuong is an emerging artist who specializes in oil painting portraits. His works examine the relationships of his heritage and community, and pairs abstract concepts with concrete figures. In exploring this area, Vuong references history, language, and culture, humanizing these concepts with personal memories, collective history, and figures.

Kelly Rendek is an artist based in Ottawa and recently obtained her MFA from the University of Ottawa. She also holds a BFA from Concordia University, and an MA in Mathematics from the University of Texas at Austin. Her work explores the concepts of home and our relationship to place.
