The much-anticipated multi-use pathway bridge over the Rideau River is now open. The bridge is located beside O-Train Line 2 and provides pedestrians and cyclists an easy connection between Carleton University and Vincent Massey Park with access to the RA Centre, Hog’s Back Falls, Billings Bridge Shopping Centre and more.

In 2022 construction crews spent two days lifting the main structure of the 65-metre bridge into place using a 750-tonne crane. Since then, they’ve been hard at work finishing the project so Carleton University students and other area residents can benefit from its convenient location.

The project is part of the Stage 2 South extension that will extend light rail transit service from Bayview Station to Limebank Station in Riverside South and will include a link to the Ottawa International Airport on O-Train Line 4. The extension restores LRT service on Line 2, adds eight new stations and new connections such as the new Hunt Club multi-use pathway bridge and the High Road wildlife bridge.

Over the coming weeks, the contractor will be completing some final works to  the substructure underneath the bridge and to the surrounding landscape. These activities  should not affect users.
