Eligibility
To be eligible for the Rent Supplement Program you must apply to The Social Housing Registry of Ottawa. Refer to eligibility rules(link is external). Other rules may apply.
What you need
All household members must provide proof of:
- Identification of status in Canada (link is external)
- Income
- Other documents as outlined in the application
All household members 16 years of age and older must sign the form.

In person by appointment only
Go online to book an appointment(link is external) in person.
Phone by appointment only
Call 613-526-2088 to book an appointment, Monday to Friday from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm.
- Fill out an Application for Rent-Geared-to-Income Housing in Ottawa with the Social Housing Registry(link is external).
- You must check off the Rent Supplement Program boxes on the application to be considered for the Rent Supplement Program. Your name will be added to the Centralized Wait List for subsidized housing.
- Return your completed application and all applicable supporting documents to:

Make sure The Social Housing Registry of Ottawa always has your most up to date contact information (phone number, email and/or address).
When a unit within the rent supplement portfolio becomes vacant, the Rent Supplement Program will offer the unit to the household at the top of Centralized Wait List.
Canada-Ontario Housing Benefit
If you are eligible for the Canada-Ontario Housing Benefit, you will receive an invitation letter by mail.
