Retail cannabis sales
Council voted on Thursday, December 13 to allow private cannabis stores in Ottawa under the rules of the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario.

Smoke free by-laws
Once the Province finalizes regulations for smoking and vaping under the Smoke Free Ontario Act, 2017, the City of Ottawa will consider possible changes to smoking and vaping regulations within existing by-laws and whether new regulations are needed.
It is anticipated that public engagement opportunities on smoking and vaping regulations will occur in early 2019.
Commercial edible cannabis products
The Government of Canada has announced that it expects to enact rules for commercial edible cannabis products in 2019.
Once the federal and provincial rules are established, the City of Ottawa will consider any local rules that may be required.
Consultations for this issue will be announced later.
