Environmental management plans

Environmental planning studies take place on several levels. Watershed and Subwatershed Studies are completed before an environmental management plan is done, providing information on the existing natural features of the watershed or subwatershed study area.

The main purpose of an environmental management plan (EMP) is to:

• Consider the impacts of any land-use activities on natural features
• Develop a plan to mitigate adverse effects
• Protect, enhance or restore the natural system for the pleasure of all

Several City of Ottawa Environmental Management Plans have been completed or are underway.
