Instructors & Studio Coordinators Exhibition

The Studio Gallery is exhibiting the recent work of instructors and studio coordinators to kick off the New Year. A variety of styles, mediums, and ideas will be on display in this group exhibition.

March 5 to April 9, 2018

Traditional Oil Painting

The oil painting classes have selected a number of works that display harmony of light and tones as well as traditional subject matter. Still life and portraiture with emphasis on proper technique is the focus of the exhibition.

April 9 to May 14 2018

Life Drawing

The life drawing studios will be displaying their recent work featuring people and portraiture. The artwork is created by open-minded, creative individuals with varying styles who use a wide range of drawing materials to achieve unique interpretations and results.

May 14 to June 18, 2018

Botanical Art: Coloured Pencil

The goal of botanical art is to portray botanical subjects with accuracy and artistry; within the coloured pencil tradition, this also means depicting subject matter with an extreme attention to detail and an elegant hand. Artwork on display represents the hard work of recent botanical art students.

June 18 to September 10, 2018

Large Scale & Experimental Works

The large-scale abstract art as well as experimental watercolour groups are exhibiting work that is creative, contemporary and diverse. A wide variety of styles and philosophies will be explored in this display.

September 10 to October 22, 2018

Oil & Acrylic Painting Studios

The creativity and versatility of the painting studios will be on display in this show. The exhibition will feature a variety of painting styles, techniques, and materials with many individual artists on display.

Wabi Sabi is the traditional Japanese philosophy of aesthetics, centered upon the evocation of beauty through meditation upon three fundamental tenets of Buddhism: imperfection, impermanence, and incompleteness. These artworks are a breathtaking expression of that philosophy.
