Founded by brothers-in-law Israel Shinder and Emanuel Lightstone, AMBICO has grown from a family-run construction products business to an industry-leading specialized door company with a world-wide reputation as an innovator and leader. AMBICO designs and builds the very precise doors needed for state-of-the-art hospitals, universities, banks, prison facilities, hotels, museums, art galleries, and more. Key clients have included the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD), Canada’s Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP), Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), and internationally successful firms such as Pfizer Inc. and Apple Inc.
The manufacturing facility, located just east of downtown Ottawa, fulfills cutting-edge commissions that include bullet-resistant and blast-resistant doors, frames and windows; acoustic doors and frame assemblies; lead-lined doors and frames; stainless steel doors, and brass-clad doors and frames.
During Doors Open Ottawa, visitors will experience a guided tour of the manufacturing facility that includes in-person demonstrations of the machinery and equipment used to create doors for the specialized market.
Tours will be offered on Saturday, June 3rd every 45 minutes at 10 am, 10:45 am, 11:30 am, 12:15 pm, 1 pm, 1:45 pm, 2:30 pm, and 3:15 pm on a first-come, first-serve basis.
