Cumberland Heritage Village Museum provides visitors with an immersive, seasonal experience that showcases rural life in the 1920s and 30s in eastern Ontario. On site, there are dozens of heritage and true-to-the-era reproduction buildings in a recreated village set within 100 acres of green space. These buildings include a working sawmill and print shop, Watson’s Imperial automotive garage, the Vars Train Station, a CNR caboose, a fire hall, the one-room schoolhouse from French Hill, the Knox Church, and a number of domestic homes, barns and farm buildings.
The period between the World Wars was one of great transition. This was seen in the economic and political changes and tensions in Canada at the time. The Roaring Twenties and the Dirty Thirties were a time of technological advances impacting the way in which work was done and bringing about cultural and social changes. At Cumberland Heritage Village Museum, visitors can view heritage breed farm animals, heirloom gardens, and plenty of historic objects, machinery and equipment which powerfully illustrate life in the interwar period.
Cumberland Heritage Village Museum is located just 30 minutes east of Central Ottawa.
