The City’s Agriculture and Rural Affairs Committee today approved funding for applications to the Rural Community-Building Grants Program received in the third quarter of 2023. The program supports rural-based community improvement projects undertaken by non-profit organizations.

The projects selected for Q3 2023 would receive a total of about $10,000. That amount includes just over $6,000 for the Metcalfe Community Association to install cycling network signs in the village of Metcalfe, which was approved through a motion.

The City will continue to accept applications until the annual budget is fully allocated. Please consult the grant program guidelines for information on how to apply.

The Committee also approved a series of technical amendments to the new Official Plan. To ensure the Official Plan remains up-to-date and accurate, the amendments correct minor errors and oversights, clarify policies to improve implementation, and update language to reflect recent legislative changes. This is the first in a planned series of omnibus reports, and subsequent reports will address additional corrections and updates to both the Official Plan and secondary plans.

Recommendations from today’s meeting will rise to Council on Wednesday, September 13.
