The rural fair has changed a lot since the 1800’s. What started as a way to promote agriculture and the rural lifestyle, has evolved over time. Many fairs today still have an agricultural component, but they’re so much more. Whether you want to partake in some mouth-watering food, enjoy the many thrilling rides, listen to top-notch concerts, or watch the excitement of a tractor pull or demolition derby, Ottawa’s rural fairs have something for everyone.
You’re sure to get your share of fun by visiting one or more of the fairs being held in Ottawa this year:
- August 10 to 13: Navan Fair
- August 18 to 27: The Capital Fair
- September 14 to 17: Richmond Fair
- September 21 to 24: Carp Fair
- September 28 to October 1: Metcalfe Fair
