Project overview

Project description

The project encompasses transit priority measures and it includes the reconstruction of the Greenbank Road and Baseline Road intersection with dedicated bus priority lanes, new concrete sidewalks and curbs, raised asphalt cycle tracks, reconfigured traffic lanes, and utility pole relocations. The underground work will be limited to the installation of new catch basins and relocation of utility structures.

The Baseline/Greenbank transit priority intersection improvements project requires partial acquisitions and temporary limited interests of privately owned properties for its implementation.

Project timing

Design completion: fall 2024
Construction start: spring 2025
Construction completion: fall 2026

Project budget

Approved project funds to date are $18.5 million. 

Public engagement

A public information session – open house is being held on October 30 at Ben Franklin Place to present the design drawings to the public. At this time, attendees will be able to review the design, ask questions and provide comment on the proposed works.

Previous consultations include:

  • Baseline Road Bus Rapid Transit Study (May 2012)
  • Approval of the Baseline BRT Corridor Recommended Plan by City Council (February 8, 2017)
  • Four public open houses (April 2012, November 2012, June 2014, and October 2016)
  • Completion of the Environmental Assessment (September 2017)

The City of Ottawa invites you to attend a Public Information Session to discuss the proposed infrastructure improvement project in your neighbourhood. Design drawings will be on display for your review and staff will be present to answer any questions and receive comments. There will not be a formal presentation at this open house. Please attend at your leisure.

The City of Ottawa invites you to review and provide comments on the draft design for this project that will be posted here after the event. Your feedback can be submitted via the online form, by email or by phone to the contacts below, between October 30 and November 13, 2024.

The following provides additional information about the project:

What: The project involves reconstruction of the Greenbank Road and Baseline Road intersection with dedicated bus priority lanes, new concrete sidewalks and curbs, raised asphalt cycle tracks, reconfigured traffic lanes, utility pole and structures relocations.

Why: The objective of this project is to improve user safety and OC Transpo service.

When: Construction is planned to start in spring 2025 and be completed by fall 2026.

Where: Greenbank Road and Baseline Road intersection.

Who: The engineering firm, Parsons, has been retained by the City of Ottawa to develop design drawings for this project.
