Project overview
Project description
As identified within the City’s Transportation Master Plan, the Earl Grey Drive Extension Project will improve traffic flow in the Kanata Centrum area and will greatly improve bus service by providing a more direct route to and from Terry Fox Station.
The City is proceeding with the extension of Earl Grey Drive as a new 2 lane road, complete with cycling and pedestrian facilities west to Didsbury Road approximately 140 metres in length including a new stop-controlled intersection at Didsbury Road. Earl Grey Drive extension will pass under Terry Fox Drive and requires the construction of a new bridge structure including underground storm sewers outletting to the existing stormwater management pond along the Carp River. Didsbury Road West between Terry Fox Drive and the Earl Grey extension will be upgraded with pedestrian and cycling facilities. The intersection of Terry Fox Drive and Didsbury Road will be upgraded with separate cycle tracks and cross walks in order to meet the requirements of the City’s protected intersection guidelines.
