City Wide Sports

City-Wide Sports programs and leagues are listed in Register Ottawa, the City of Ottawa’s registration site.  Please note that any fees are paid directly to the team contact, not the City of Ottawa. 

Before you begin 

1. Create an account in Register Ottawa. For instructions, see How do I create an account? 
2. Log in to Register Ottawa.

Create or join a team: 

Registering for teams follows a slightly different process than registration for other programs. Through Register Ottawa, you can either:  

• Join an existing team created by a friend,  
• Join as an "individual" to be matched with a team, 
• Create your own team and rally your friends to join. If you are looking for more players, email City Wide Sports.
• Please note that hockey leagues only offer the option to create your own team. It is not possible to join a team as an individual. 

Create a team: 

1. Select “Activities” on Register Ottawa, near the top left, under the Ottawa logo. 
2. Use the search field to enter the league name or activity number and "Search".  
3. Select “Enroll now,” then select the following: 
   1. “Team Registration,” 
   2. “Create a new team,”  
   3. “The name of the team coach,” 
4. Enter your team's name. 
5. Set the number of team members as 20 or higher.  
6. "The participant you are enrolling as the team contact.”  
7. “Add to cart.” (The registration fee will appear in the order summary.) 
8. Review and accept the waiver. 
9. Select “Check out.”  
   1. Follow the payment instructions to pay online by credit card. For debit, cash and cheque payments you must visit a recreation facility or client service centre in-person.  

Instructions on how to view schedules will be sent out once schedules are ready (one week before league start date). Please contact us by email or 613-580-2854 for any questions.

Join a team (individuals):  

1. Select “Activities” on Register Ottawa, near the top left, under the Ottawa logo.  
2. Use the search field to enter the league name or activity number.   
3. Select “Enroll now,” then follow these buttons:  
   1. “Team Registration,”  
   2. “Join an Existing Team,”   
   3. “Who you are enrolling,”  
   4. “The team you want to join” (individuals without a team choose the “Individual team” option),  
   5. Enter the password given to you by the team contact. Individuals without a team do not need a password.  
4. “Continue.”  
5. Select “Add to cart”.  
6. Review and accept the waiver.  
7. Select “Finish.”

There are various sports leagues to choose from with schedules, standings and a leaderboard displayed on Register Ottawa.

Basketball - women's

Rules

• Intermediate: Geared to players with considerable knowledge and skill level. League is divided according to level of play. One-and-a-half hour games. 
• Recreational: Geared to players new to the game or who have not played for a while. League is divided according to level of play. One-hour games. 

Beach volleyball - women's 

Rules

Emphasis is on active participation and fun. Games are at a recreational level. 

• Beach 2s: 2 versus 2 
• Beach 4s: 4 versus 4 
• Beach 6s: 6 versus 6 

Indoor volleyball - women's

Rules

• Intermediate: Geared to players with considerable knowledge and skill level. League is divided according to level of play. One-and-a-half hour games. 
• Recreational: Geared to players who are new or returning to the sport. League is divided according to level of play. One-and-a-quarter hour games. 

Pickleball - women's

Rules

Emphasis is on active participation and fun. Games are at a recreational level. League takes place on outdoor pickleball courts.

Softball - women's

Rules

Recreational women's softball league.

Hockey - men’s 35+ 

This league is for recreational hockey players. Non-contact recreational hockey league (CWSHL) with officiated games and playoffs for qualifiers. This league strives to provide a safe and fun adult hockey experience. It is mandatory for all players to wear full hockey equipment, including a CSA-approved hockey helmet. A full-face mask is recommended.

Hockey - women’s 18+ 

This league is for women recreational hockey players. Non-contact recreational hockey league (CWSHL) with officiated games and playoffs for qualifiers. This league strives to provide a safe and fun adult hockey experience. It is mandatory for all players to wear full hockey equipment, including a CSA-approved hockey helmet. A full-face mask is recommended.

2. In person: Visit any recreation facility customer service counter and speak to the City of Ottawa employee. 
3. In writing: Leave a written comment in a Client Comment Box. These boxes are available to the public in all recreation facilities.
