Fariba Kalantari – Home

January 16 to March 25

Fariba Kalantari is a visual artist. She has a PhD from McGill University and has been a research scientist. Her artworks have been consistently exhibited, and she has received multiple grants. Recently her work has been acquired by the Art Bank collection. She lives in Ottawa, and online.

The unifying theme behind this collection is the sense of home from the viewpoint of an immigrant to Canada. Through these works the viewer is invited to a space I have called home for a period of time, before the next move.

The artist gratefully acknowledges the financial support of the City of Ottawa, and the Ontario Arts Council.

Undercoverpaintbrushes - Sense of Place

November 7, 2024 to January 14, 2025
Vernissage: Thursday, November 7, 5:30 to 7:30 pm

We are the Undercoverpaintbrushes, a diverse collective of womxn artists who met at the Ottawa School of Art in 2019. Through the pandemic's challenges, art provided us with mindfulness, kindness, and community. Embracing our varied styles and techniques, we celebrate our differences as strengths, growing together and exploring new artistic horizons.

Sense of Place by the Undercoverpaintbrushes explores emotional ties to daily environments. Our works reveal how people and places affect each other, capturing a range of emotions from solace and inspiration to discomfort and loss. They highlight the deep connection between humanity and the landscapes that shape our lives.

This oil painting depicts a whimsical scene of a swan-shaped pool float gently drifting in a serene backyard swimming pool, framed by lush greenery and a fence in the background.
