Description
Almanac is comprised of two circular wall-mounted panels depicting a silhouette of the moon in both waxing and waning forms. Within this shape, a dense field of stars makes up a series of constellations comprised of flowing and swirling lines representing wind and water patterns and could also be viewed as animal tracks marking the land.
Located at the François Dupuis Recreation Complex in Orleans, Almanac invites viewers to contemplate the night sky, the rural history of this area and their relationship with the natural world in an ever-expanding and urbanized municipality.
Amy Alice Thompson’s mixed media art and design projects reveal dreamlike realities strongly influenced by geometry, nature and memory and explore themes of memory, childhood, and the natural world.
