Description

The sky has always been the most vital and important element for artist Christine Firth, a former glider pilot and the first woman in Canada to glide over 100 kilometres. She celebrates the sky through paint and poetry. Lest We Forget the Wilderness is an atmospheric ceiling mural that presents a bird's eye view of the National Capital Region at the time it was first surveyed from high above Carlington Hill. Painted on the ceiling area of the rotunda, the mural is located beneath a lobby skylight at the Pinecrest Recreation Centre.
