Description

This papier mâché sculpture tells the story of Farmer McClintock and his dream of overflowing market stands. Vendors holding baskets of fruit, vegetables, meat and eggs float above him in a cloud-like vision of heaven.

McClintock’s Dream was created in 1978 by artist Victor Tolgesy. Tolgesy used colourful caricatures of market vendors to capture the lively spirit of the ByWard Market during the era in which this building was used to sell farmers’ wares.
