Description
This desk and chair were commissioned to integrate with the design of the former Ottawa City Hall Council Chambers as part of renovations to the previous Ottawa City Hall at 111 Sussex Drive. Details in the chair and desk, such as the mother-of-pearl diamonds and the sunburst pattern of walnut, echo the architectural details of the cone and pyramid designed by architect Moshe Safdie as part of the renovations to the former City Hall. The Ottawa Coat of Arms is produced from inlaid veneers that the artist hand cut with a jewellers saw using a technique called marquetry.
