Proposed Road Modifications

In December 2019, Council approved the principles of a Safe Systems approach to road safety in road design and that when reconstruction occurs on local residential streets, these roads be designed for a 30 km/h operating speed. The proposed designs for the roads listed below were then updated accordingly with additional traffic calming measures.

Pursuant to By-law No. 2011–122, the City of Ottawa is providing notice to the public of its intention to approve road modifications at the following locations in accordance with the authority under By-law No. 2011-28:

Byron Avenue at Wavell Avenue

  • Installation of a Type ‘D’ pedestrian crossover (PXO) on Byron Avenue, just west of Wavell Avenue, to facilitate the north-south pedestrian crossing.
  • Installation of concrete sidewalk on both sides of Byron Avenue, at Wavell Avenue, connecting the proposed Type ‘D’ PXO to the existing asphalt multi-use pathway.
