Part of the downtown O-Train Line 1 tunnel will be closed for a planned maintenance assessment during two weekends this spring. These closures will take place on Saturday, April 29 and Sunday, April 30, and again on Saturday, May 6 and Sunday, May 7.

During the closures, Line 1 will continue to run between Tunney's Pasture and Parliament stations in the west, and between Hurdman and Blair stations in the east. R1 bus replacement service will run frequently between Hurdman and Lyon stations to meet ridership requirements.

Regular train service will resume at 5 am on both Monday, May 1 and Monday, May 8.

The closures are required for Rideau Transit Group to assess the scope of repairs to prevent water infiltration in sections of the tunnel. Tunnel maintenance will take place in June, and any required changes to service will be communicated in advance of these works.  This type of regular inspection and maintenance is common for underground tunnels, and there are no safety concerns.
