The IIHF World Junior Championship is set to return to Ottawa for the first time since 2009. OC Transpo is prepared to take you to and from every game. With service to TD Place Arena, the Canadian Tire Centre, and throughout the city, OC Transpo provides plenty of options for getting to and from games conveniently and safely.

Travel on OC Transpo is free for World Juniors ticketholders and volunteers for every preliminary and tournament game between Thursday, December 19 and Sunday, January 5. Ticketholders can travel on buses, O-Train Line 1, and Para Transpo for free up to three hours before and three hours after the event on the date their game ticket is valid. Simply show your game ticket to the bus or Para Transpo operator, the customer service representative, or use the video chat feature on ticket machines at Line 1 stations to request access through the fare gate. Volunteers can ride for free all day on game days by showing their volunteer credentials.

If you are attending Fan Fest at Aberdeen Pavilion or other related events without valid tickets to a game, you will be required to pay the regular fare.

Getting to and from games

For service to TD Place Arena, take Routes 6 and 7. For service to the Canadian Tire Centre, take routes 62, 162, 404, 405, and 406. In addition to regular Route 404 service, additional trips have been scheduled between Rideau Station and the Canadian Tire Centre to provide improved connections.

Return trips on 400-series routes depart approximately 15 minutes after the end of each game at the Canadian Tire Centre and serve the same stops as the way there.

Routes 62 and 162 will be detoured during tournament games to lessen service impacts from event traffic, providing service along Huntmar Drive and Palladium Drive instead of Cyclone Taylor Boulevard.

Use OC Transpo’s Travel Planner or Transit, the recommended app for OC Transpo customers, to plan your trip to and from World Junior Championship hockey games, downtown, the Ottawa International Airport, and more.

Para Transpo

There are no changes to Para Transpo service for the IIHF World Junior Hockey Championship. Customers must book Para Transpo trips at least one day in advance through MyParaTranspo or by calling 613-560-5000.

Para Transpo customers attending games at TD Place Arena will be dropped off and picked up from the Gate 1 entrance. Service to Fan Fest at Aberdeen Pavilion will be next to the box office at Gate 3. Customers who are attending games at the Canadian Tire Centre will be dropped off and picked up from Gate 3.

Para Transpo is a shared-ride, book-in-advance, public transit service. The service is open to eligible customers who are unable to take conventional transit (buses and O-Train) some or all of the time due to a disability.
