Current sessions

The City will hold additional orientation sessions and tours for members of City Council starting November 21. While media and residents will be able to attend orientation sessions, they will not be able to participate in tours of facilities and sites. These sessions provide a high-level overview of background and publicly available information.

 

November 2022 - August 2023

November

  • November 21 – Tour of OC Transpo’s facilities
  • November 22 – Orientation session on Stage 2 Light Rail, from 10 am to noon in Council Chambers, Ottawa City Hall, 110 Laurier Avenue West. This meeting is open to the media and residents.
     

December

  • December 8 - Orientation session on winter operations, from 9:30 to 11:30 am in the Champlain Room, Ottawa City Hall, 110 Laurier Avenue West. This meeting is open to the media and residents.
  • December 16 - Seasonal Recreation: Outdoor Rink Insurance at 1 pm on Zoom.
     

January

  • January 16 – Public Information and Media Relations orientation, from 2:30  to 3:30 pm in Champlain Room, Ottawa City Hall, 110 Laurier Avenue West. This meeting is open to the media and residents.
  • January 17 – Housing and homelessness orientation, from 2 to 4 pm in Jean Pigott Hall, Ottawa City Hall, 110 Laurier Avenue West. This meeting is open to the media and residents.
  • January 20 – Ottawa Community Housing orientation, from 9:30 am to noon in Councillor’s Lounge, Ottawa City Hall, 110 Laurier Avenue West.  This meeting is open to the media and residents.
  • January 23 – Infrastructure and Water Services Orientation, from 9 am to noon in Champlain Room, Ottawa City Hall, 110 Laurier Avenue West. This meeting  is open to the media and residents.
  • January 23 – Planning, Real Estate and Economic Development policy and legislation at 1 pm in Council Chambers, Ottawa City Hall, 110 Laurier Avenue West. This meeting is open to the media and residents.
  • January 24 – Emergency management orientation, from 9 am to 11 am in Champlain Room, Ottawa City Hall, 110 Laurier Avenue West. This meeting is open to the media and residents.
  • January 24 – De-escalation and crisis supports training for Members of Council and their staff, followed by casework support and information. Training will be provided by Community and Social Services in partnership with Ottawa Public Health.

  • January 27 – Tour of Robert O. Pickard Environmental Centre 
  • January 30 - Solid Waste Services Orientation from 9 to 11:30 am in the Champlain Room, Ottawa City Hall, 110 Laurier Avenue West. This meeting is open to the media and residents.
     

February

  • February 3 – Open Data and ServiceOttawa/3-1-1 orientation, from 1 pm to 3 pm in Council Chambers, Ottawa City Hall, 110 Laurier Avenue West. This meeting is open to the media and residents.
  • February 6 – Climate Change at 1 pm in the Champlain Room, Ottawa City Hall, 110 Laurier Avenue West. This meeting is open to the media and residents.
  • February 7, 9 and 15 - Tour of Ottawa Fire Services
  • February 10 – Right of Way at 10 am in the Champlain Room, Ottawa City Hall, 110 Laurier Avenue West. This meeting is open to the media and residents.
  • February 13 - Urban Forest Management Plan, Tree Protection By-law, Tree planting programs and maintenance at 2:30 pm in the Champlain Room, Ottawa City Hall, 110 Laurier Avenue West. This meeting is open to the media and residents.
  • February 16 – Supply Services and Procurement orientation, from 2 pm to 3 pm in Champlain Room, Ottawa City Hall, 110 Laurier Avenue West. This meeting is open to the media and residents.
  • February 24 – Biodiversity at 9 am in the Champlain Room, Ottawa City Hall, 110 Laurier Avenue West. This meeting is open to the media and residents.

 

March

  • March 29 - Rural farm tour with the Ontario Federation of Agriculture from 9 am to 4 pm.

 

April

  • May 29  - Orientation session on the Planning, Real Estate and Economic Development work plan, from 1 to 3 pm in the Richmond Room, Ottawa City Hall, 110 Laurier Avenue West
  • May 31 - Tour of the Ottawa Fire Services Training Centre

 

June

  • June 2 - Tour of Ottawa Paramedic Service headquarters

  • June 12 - Orientation session on the Digital Twin project at 1 pm in the Champlain room, Ottawa City Hall, 110 Laurier Avenue West

 

August

  • August 3 - Orientation Refresher Session – “Members of Council and Police Governance: Understanding the Unique Roles,” from 9 am in Champlain Room, Ottawa City Hall, 110 Laurier Avenue West. This meeting is open to the media and residents.

Orientation sessions have not yet been finalized but will cover a range of topics including:

  • Corporate Security and Emergency Management
  • Transportation planning
