Introduction

The City of Ottawa has identified a requirement to rehabilitate the existing storm sewer trunk on Valley Drive from Saunderson Drive to the St. Laurent Boulevard and Walkley Road intersection.

Phase 1, from Foley Avenue (Valley Drive) to St. Laurent Boulevard (Walkley Road), was tendered in Fall 2018. Construction is in progress and anticipated to be complete in Summer 2020.

Phase 2, from Valley Drive (Foley Avenue) to Saunderson Drive (Weston Park), will follow with timelines to be confirmed.

This information session is to provide you with an opportunity to:

  • review the final design drawings
  • learn about construction activities, timelines and traffic management plans
  • speak with the project leaders and meet the construction team

Next steps

Introduction

The City of Ottawa has identified a requirement to rehabilitate the existing storm sewer trunk on Valley Drive from Saunderson Drive to the St. Laurent Boulevard and Walkley Road intersection. The sanitary sewer will be replaced from Pleasant Park Road to approximately 190 metres south of the St. Laurent Boulevard and Walkley Road intersection. The watermain will be replaced and full road reconstruction will be undertaken. Phase 1 of this project will be from Foley Avenue (Valley Drive) to the sanitary sewer connection south of Walkley Road.

Specifically the work includes:

  • New pavement structure on Foley Avenue and St. Laurent Boulevard.
  • New 1.8 metre sidewalk along the north side of Foley Avenue.
  • Replacement of existing sidewalks along St. Laurent Boulevard.
  • Replacement of storm and sanitary sewer and watermains.
  • Landscaping reinstatement.

The contract is anticipated to be substantially completed in the Fall of 2019. Final asphalt placement and completion of the project is anticipated in the spring of 2020.

Next steps

  • The project team will review and evaluate comments from the public and agencies.
  • Construction is expected to begin in the summer of 2018. It will shut-down in late 2018 and restart in the spring of 2019.
  • The contract is expected to be substantially completed in the fall of 2019.
  • Final asphalt placement and completion of the project is anticipated in the spring of 2020.
