Project overview
Project description
The City of Ottawa plans to modify the existing offset intersections of Conroy Road and Davidson Road into a single aligned intersection with an appropriate traffic control device (traffic control signal or roundabout). A portion of Davidson Road situated east of Conroy Road is intended to be realigned through National Capital Commission (NCC) Lands, with the existing alignment of this section of Davidson Road to be naturalized. Modifications to the existing roadside ditches, reinstatement or replacement of existing culverts, or installation of small sections of storm sewers may be required to maintain positive drainage surrounding the intersection.
Project timing
Tentative construction in 2026/2027 pending approvals including budget and overall construction coordination.
Project budget
Approved project funds to date are $1 million.
Public engagement
A virtual public information session is expected to be held in early spring 2025, to present the functional design options for a traffic control signal and a roundabout to the public. At this time attendees will be able to review the design, ask questions and provide comment on the design options.
A second public information session is expected to be held in late fall 2025 to present the detailed design drawings to the public. At this time attendees will be able to review the design, ask questions and provide comment on the proposed works.
Accessibility
Accessibility is an important consideration for the City of Ottawa. The City makes every effort to provide access through and around construction sites. Date and time
The City of Ottawa invites you to attend an upcoming virtual public information session to discuss an intersection modification project planned in your area. Through this session, the City of Ottawa will present functional design drawings for a new traffic control device at a realigned single intersection of Conroy Road and Davidson Road.
Please register if you wish to participate.
In addition to the above meeting, residents can also participate through viewing and commenting on the online documents to be posted here after the session.
Your input is an important part of the consultation process. Your feedback can be submitted via the online form(link is external), by email or by phone to the City Project Manager below by April 24, 2025.
What: The work includes the realignment of a portion of Davidson Road, east of Conroy Road, to match the existing Davidson Road alignment west of Conroy Road and construction of a traffic control device (traffic control signal or roundabout).
A portion of Davidson Road east of Conroy Road will be realigned through National Capital Commission (NCC) Lands, and the existing portion of Davidson Road will be naturalized and provided to the NCC as part of the land exchange. Modifications to the existing roadside ditches, reinstatement or replacement of existing culverts, or installation of small sections of storm sewers may be required to maintain positive drainage surrounding the intersection. The project is being planned following the Schedule C process of the Municipal Class Environmental Assessment.
Why: The proposed works will improve traffic operations and safety for all road users at the existing offset intersections through road realignment and installation of a new traffic control device.
Where: Conroy Road from approximately 300 metres north to 300 metres south of Davidson Road, and Davidson Road from approximately 400 metres east to 400 metres west of Conroy Road.

When: A Functional Design Study has previously been completed. Finalization of the preferred Functional Design following the Municipal Class Environmental Assessment – Schedule C project requirements has commenced and will include environmental and field investigations which will take place during early spring 2025.
A preferred traffic control device (traffic signal or roundabout) is expected to be determined by early summer 2025. The design is expected to be completed by late 2025. Construction is expected to commence in 2026/2027 pending approvals, including budget and overall construction coordination.
Who: The City of Ottawa has retained Novatech to undertake the design of this project.
Safety
The City of Ottawa is committed to safety in and around project sites. The project team continues to work closely with the industry and to comply with recommendations provided by municipal, provincial and federal health officials, as well as the Ministry of Labour, Immigration, Training and Skills Development.
