Project overview

Project description

The City of Ottawa plans to rehabilitate the Convent Glen North Collector Storm Sewer that is located between the Ottawa River and the OR 174. The existing large storm sewer is comprised of Structural Plate Corrugated Steel (SPCSP) elliptical pipes which range from 3.5m to 4.8 metres in size. The total length of the existing sewer is approximately 1.44 kilometres. Through the design process, the City will investigate various rehabilitation options including trenchless sewer lining and open excavation replacement methods.

The project limits:

  • North of Regional Road 174 to the Ottawa River

Project location

The existing sewer is located within a dedicated open corridor that contains a multi-use pathway within the northwest portion of the Convent Glen residential neighbourhood. It is located behind residential homes, traverses three (3) City parks (Father Richard Ward, North Vineyard & Voyageur) and is below the grounds of the Voyageurs Catholic Elementary School. The section of sewer that is to be rehabilitated as part of this project connects to the recently rehabilitated sewer that runs under the OR 174.

Project timing

Design: underway
Design completion: end of 2024
Construction: tentatively scheduled to start in the spring/summer of 2025, pending budget approval.

Project budget

Approved project funds to date are $1,950,000.
Additional funding will be secured via the 2024/25 budget process for construction.
