Project description
This project has been created to construct new concrete sidewalks on the south side of Navaho Drive from Iris Street to Sherman Drive and from Tara Drive to Erindale Drive. These new sidewalks will complete the missing links in the local pedestrian network, to improve connectivity to Agincourt Road Public School, public transit stops, and three nearby parks. Additionally, they will improve safety and comfort for all users.

Project budget
Total project budget: $1 million.
Public engagement
A public consultation was held in August 2022, to present the functional design drawings to the public. At that time, residents were able to review the design, ask questions and provide comment on the proposed works.

Construction notice (August 2024)
This notice is to advise you that beginning in September, the City of Ottawa will start construction for the new Navaho Drive Sidewalk project, which includes construction of a new sidewalk on the south side of Navaho Drive extending from Iris Street to Erindale Drive.
What: This project has been created to construct new concrete sidewalks on the south side of Navaho Drive from Iris Street to Sherman Drive and from Tara Drive to Erindale Drive.
Why: These new sidewalks will complete the missing links in the local pedestrian network, to improve connectivity to Agincourt Road Public School, public transit stops, and three nearby parks. Additionally, they will improve safety and comfort for all users.
When: Construction is expected to commence in September and be completed by the end of fall 2024.
Where: Navaho Drive from Iris Street to Erindale Drive.
Who: The City of Ottawa has retained the contractor, Jamrock Ltd, to complete the work.
Traffic management
Residents can expect construction traffic and activity on Navaho Drive from Iris Street to Erindale Drive and on the connecting side streets. Temporary lane reductions and pedestrian detours will be implemented as required throughout the project. Traffic control and flag persons will be present as needed. Local access will be maintained.
OC Transpo impacts
Impacts are expected to be minor.
Contractor responsibility
As part of this contract, the contractor is assuming full responsibility for the construction work until it is entirely complete, as well as any possible damage to private property resulting from these construction activities. In the event of such occurrences, all claims for damages should be immediately reported both verbally and in writing to the contractor and to the City on-site representative. This will ensure prompt notification of appropriate authorities to complete the claim investigations.
Construction disruptions
The contractor will take every precaution to minimize interruptions to the everyday life of your family and/or operation of your business, but, as you can appreciate, there may be some inconvenience during the course of the work, such as traffic delays, noise and dust. We would like to thank you for your patience and co-operation. For construction activity hours of work, the City of Ottawa follows provincial requirements and the City’s Noise By-law (2017-255).
