Farm grant program

City Council approved the continuation of the annual Farm Grant Program to provide financial relief to working farmers. The grant program assists eligible farm property owners by allowing the June final property tax instalment to be paid in December.

Before you Begin

Penalty charges will continue to accrue during the deferral period. The grant amount will be the equivalent of the penalty charges and fees added to your account.

The City will automatically enroll all farmlands properties, as defined by the Municipal Property Assessment Corporation (MPAC), that are not owned by a commercial enterprise. Eligible property owners will receive an insert detailing the program with their final property tax bill. Those who receive their bill electronically will receive the insert by mail.

Notification of the amount to be paid will be communicated to you by mail in the fall.

Once the taxes are paid, the City will automatically calculate and apply a credit to your tax account bringing your account to a zero balance.

  • Taxes have been paid up to date before the June instalment
  • The final tax instalment bill (mailed in May) is paid in full in early December
