Reminiscent of a country estate, with the convenience of a central location, Ottawa’s oldest wood-frame house is surrounded by approximately eight acres of landscaped greenspace and gardens.
A marquee tent is provided on the lawn at the historic rear of the house. The tent measures 30’ x 50’ and has a plywood floor throughout. A low ramp provides access to the tent for clients requiring use of a mobility device. The guest capacity of this tent depends upon the client’s intended seating arrangement. Generally, the large tent can seat up to 100 to 120 people with tables and chairs, or fewer people if space is required for a dance floor or similar amenity. When arranged theatre - style, a maximum of 150 people can be accommodated. Staff will notify park users and museum visitors of any private events occurring on the site.
Located at the historic front of the house, the tea tent is 20’ x 20’ and has a stone floor throughout. When set up with tables and chairs, this tent can seat 25 people comfortably; when arranged theatre- style, the tent accommodates 40 people.
The grounds of Billings Estate are also a local park enjoyed by visitors and neighbours. The museum cannot prohibit casual use of the site but does guarantee that only one event will be scheduled at any given time.
