Seasonal road closures for summer fun at Elgin Street and Byward Market

The City of Ottawa is advising residents and visitors of the following road closures within the downtown core to accommodate the right-of-way for restaurant and pub patios and more public space over the summer and fall months.

The following closures are in effect for the Summer Pedestrian Zones in the Byward Market:

  • William Street, from York to George streets, is closed until October 1, 2024.
  • Byward Street, from York to Clarence streets, is closed until October 31, 2024.

The following closures are in effect for the Summer Pedestrian Zones in Centretown:

  • Frank Street cannot be accessed from Bank Street, but has been converted to two-way traffic off O’Connor Street. This change is in effect until October 1, 2024.
  • Waverly Street, from Elgin Street to Jack Purcell Lane, is closed until October 31, 2024.
