Traffic and transit impacts expected this weekend for the Capital Pride Parade

Ottawa residents and road users can expect some traffic impacts in the downtown core this weekend for the Capital Pride parade.

There will be impacts on the following streets from 3 pm on Friday, August 23 to 11:59 pm on Sunday, August 25 for the street festival:

  • Bank Street will be fully closed between Slater Street and Gladstone Avenue
  • Slater Street will be reduced to two lanes between Kent and Bank streets

The following streets will be closed at the listed times on Sunday, August 25 for the staging of the parade:

  • From 6 am to 5 pm: Laurier Avenue West, between Nicholas and Elgin streets
  • From noon to 4 pm:
    • Elgin Street, between Slater and McLeod streets
    • Gladstone Avenue, between Cartier and Kent streets

OC Transpo

OC Transpo will maintain regular bus service during the Capital Pride Festival, with the following detours in place:

  • Routes 6, 7 and 11 will be detoured off Bank Street between Albert Street and Gladstone Avenue from 2:30 pm on Friday, August 23 until 12:30 am on Monday, August 26.
    • Routes 6 and 7: Northbound trips will use Metcalfe Street and southbound trips will use O’Connor Street.
    • Route 11: Eastbound trips will use Kent Street and westbound trips will use Lyon Street.
  • Routes 5, 6, 7, 11 and 14 will be detoured for the duration of the Capital Pride Parade from 11:45 am to 4:30 pm on Sunday, August 25. All trips affected by road closures during the parade will be detoured via adjacent streets.
  • A reminder that O-Train Line 1 will be closed on Sunday, August 25 between St-Laurent and Blair stations.  R1 service will run between St-Laurent and Blair stations, and shuttle bus service will run between Cyrville and St-Laurent stations.
