Kids' Corner

Welcome to the Elections Office’s Kids’ Corner!

Kids’ Corner aims to provide educational tools targeted at our future voters – kids in the City of Ottawa! Voting is an important part of our society, and it is never too early to teach our future voters about the democratic process - in a fun way of course!

To get our future voters involved in the 2022 Municipal Elections, we are piloting a “Voters in Training” event during Special Advance Vote Days (September 24-27, 2022). Bring your little one with you when you vote on these days, and they can cast their own Voters in Training ballot! More information on this event is available under the Voters in Training section of this page.

We have also created a variety of fun activities for kids to do at home or school, including printable colouring sheets, puzzles, and games. Check them out under the Resources section of this page.

Voters in Training

The Voters in Training event will occur during Special Advance Vote Days, September 24 to September 27, from 10 am to 8 pm at the following nine voting places:

  1. François Dupuis Recreation Centre, 2263 Portobello Boulevard
  2. St-Laurent Complex, 525 Côté Street
  3. City Hall, 110 Laurier Avenue West
  4. Greenboro Community Centre, 363 Lorry Greenberg Drive
  5. Minto Recreation Complex – Barrhaven, 3500 Cambrian Road
  6. Nepean Sportsplex, 1701 Woodroffe Avenue
  7. Michele Heights Community Centre, 2955 Michèle Drive
  8. Richcraft Recreation Complex – Kanata, 4101 Innovation Drive
  9. CARDELREC Recreation Complex Goulbourn, 1500 Shea Road

Kids of all ages can come to any of the special advance voting locations to cast their own Voters in Training ballot – and they may even see their own artwork!

Kids will have the opportunity to mark their ballot and choose their favourite thing about Ottawa and tell us what they would do if they were Mayor for the day!

We will also have “I voted” stickers available as well as selfie boards (handheld and freestanding) where you can take pictures of your voters in training making their mark!

Results from the Voters in Training ballots will be shared on the Elections Office’s social media accounts in the days following the close of Special Advance Vote Days. Follow us on social media so you don’t miss the results:
