Clarke Kelly was born in 1987 and was raised in West Carleton-March where he spent his childhood living along the Ottawa River with his parents and brother.
Clarke’s roots in the community are deep having attended nursery school, elementary school, and high school in Ward 5. He played hockey for the West Carleton Warriors and soccer for the West Carleton Talons. He would go on to volunteer as a soccer coach for a decade helping to ensure that youth soccer players in West Carleton had opportunities to grow their skills.
Clarke has experience working in the mental health and addictions field and spent 5 years as a volunteer on the board of directors for MacKay Manor, a men’s recovery home helping those who are recovering from addiction. In this position he gained valuable experience in governance, not-for-profit fundraising, and coordination for community-based poverty reduction projects. Clarke has also spent time volunteering with the Carp Agricultural Society helping at the Carp Fair and fundraisers throughout the year.
From a young age Clarke has had a passion for public service and civic engagement. He has a bachelor’s degree in Political Science from Carleton University and a diploma in Communication and Media Studies from Algonquin College. Before being elected as Ward 5 Councillor, Clarke spent 4 years working on Parliament Hill helping Members of Parliament navigate the policy and legislative process.
Clarke and his wife have recently welcomed their first child and look forward to raising their family in West Carleton-March.
