Field investigations notice (October 2024)

The City of Ottawa will undertake non-intrusive field investigations in your neighborhood. This work is being done to determine and confirm the location of existing utilities and services within the project area as part of the design phase of the Montfort, Alfred and Granville Integrated Renewal.

What: The investigation work will involve locating existing utilities and services by painting them on site. The crews will also survey pipe inverts at catch-basins, maintenance holes and valve chambers to determine future construction methods and critical design information. The investigations will be done by workers and their equipment, as needed. Some short duration traffic control will be required to complete the work.

Why: This work supports the design work for the Montfort, Alfred and Granville Integrated Renewal project.

When: The field investigation work will take place at the end of October 2024 and could take up to two business days to complete. The work will be conducted between the hours of 8 am and 5 pm, Monday to Friday.

Where: At localized spots along:

  • Montfort Street, Marier Avenue to Alfred Street
  • Alfred Street, Montfort Street to Montreal Road
  • Granville Street, Montfort Street to Montreal Road

Who: JL Richards and their sub-consultant 4Sight will coordinate the work for the City of Ottawa.

On-street parking

As the various road reconstruction activities are in progress on your street, on-street parking may be restricted. In the event that access to your driveway will be impacted, you will receive 24-hours’ notice and provided with a Temporary On-Street Parking Permit (orange form) to permit on-street parking within two blocks of your residence. Residents with electric vehicles will need to find alternative charging arrangements when access is restricted. The use of extension cords within the public right of way is not permitted.

Should you have additional concerns about reduced access, such as business deliveries or accessibility requirements, please contact the project manager.

Disruptions

Every precaution will be taken to minimize interruptions to residents. As you can appreciate, there may be some inconvenience during the work. We would like to thank you in advance for your patience and co-operation.
