Navigo Ottawa Wayfinding System
Navigo is a unified destination wayfinding initiative being implemented by the City of Ottawa, Ottawa Tourism, and the National Capital Commission, in cooperation with other local partners including Outaouais Tourism.
Drawing from international best practice, Navigo has been uniquely designed for Canada’s capital region. Navigo supports residents and visitors in navigating and experiencing the city and offers seamless connections to Ottawa’s other key signage systems.
Navigo aims to:
- Provide well-located and easy-to-use orientation tools, which encourage residents and visitors to explore new destinations and discover new parts of the city with confidence;
- Denote walking distances and average times to key destinations, which encourages pedestrian-based movement and reduced reliance on motorized transportation options; and
- Increase overall foot traffic in commercial areas, which supports local business and strengthens economic development.

The first phase of illuminated Navigo signs was installed within the historical ByWard Market in November 2022. Links to each sign location, and accessible versions of each location’s maps and artwork are included below.
Modified versions of the Navigo’s base maps and graphics are featured in a number of visitor-based wayfinding tools, including paper tear-off maps available at local hotels.
