Parking ticket options

Option 1 - Pay the fine

Accepted: Visa, MasterCard, Visa Debit, Mastercard Debit, American Express
Not accepted: Pre-paid or reloadable cards or gift cards

In order to protect the identity of our clients and safeguard the City of Ottawa assets, a $1.50 service charge applies to each ticket payment in addition to any other service charge applied by your financial institution.

For parking ticket payments, please call the automated payment system at 613-738-7719, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

For all other court-related inquiries, please call 3-1-1 and dial option 3 to speak to a City of Ottawa agent.

In-Person

Payments can be made in person at any of our Client Service Centres or at 100 Constellation Drive. 

By mail or drop off box

Due to the ongoing Canada Post strike, we strongly recommend using alternative payment methods for parking tickets and other provincial offence violations to ensure your ticket payment is received on time. Payments sent by mail that arrive after the due date will incur late fees.

  • Cheques or money orders are only payable to the City of Ottawa
  • Include the ticket number on your payment method
  • Cash or credit card payments are NOT accepted by mail
  • Payments are credited only when received and processed, not the postmarked day
  • Please note that we do not accept responsibility for late delivery of mail. Payment is credited only when it is received at our office, not the postmark date.

Option 2 - Review a parking ticket

  • Submit an online parking ticket review request application through the Notice of Intention to Appear (NIA) form
  • Applications will be reviewed and responded to within 5 business days by email. Please note we are currently experiencing some delays due to a high number of requests. 
  • This option is for parking tickets only
  • Matters are reviewed on a case by case basis
  • Tickets could potentially be upheld, cancelled or fine varied
  • If you request a review, do not pay your parking violation until a decision has been made by a Screening Officer because it will void your review and consider your case closed.
  • If you are unsatisfied with the outcome of your review, you may proceed to Option 3 - Requesting a trial date

Extension of Time to Pay

If you require more time to pay your fine you may submit a Motion for Extension of Time to Pay Fine Time To Pay form. Your application will be carefully reviewed by a local Justice of the Peace before it is granted or denied.

This process can take up to 10 business days. You may verify the status of your Extension application by using the City of Ottawa’s Look-Up Tool.

Reopening A Matter

If you would like to reopen a matter for which you have been convicted, you must attend a Provincial Offences Court Office in person to submit a Request for Reopening

Your application will be carefully reviewed by a local Justice of Peace before it is granted or denied. This process can take up to 10 business days.  You may verify the status of your Reopening by using the City of Ottawa's Look-Up Tool.

Disclosure

Disclosure refers to a "disclosure package" which is provided by the Prosecution Office to the accused person or their agent/lawyer.  The package usually includes the charge, officers notes, witness statements, and other information gathered by the enforcement agency during their investigation such as pictures, recordings and other things.

If you have a trial and/or first attendance meeting scheduled, you can make a request for disclosure by submitting the online disclosure request

Transcripts

A court transcript is a verbatim report of the conversation that occurs during a trial.

Clients requiring a copy of their court transcript can do so by accessing the Authorized Court Transcriptionists for Ontario website www.courttranscriptontario.ca.  Once the client has chosen the ACT, the ACT and the ordering party will agree to all aspects of the transcript order including fees, terms of payment, availability to prepare and certify the transcript, the required timeframe and any specific delivery requirements.

Where to find your ticket or infraction number?

You can locate your infraction number on the front of the charging document. The infraction number - located at or near the top-right corner - will consist of alpha-numeric numbers and may begin or end with a letter. The charging document will also contain information regarding the infraction type, date and location.
