Forestry Services is responsible for maintaining all City owned trees including trees in parks, road allowances, and municipal woodlots. You may request tree maintenance for issues such as dead or hazardous branches. To report an immediate hazard, please call 3-1-1.
For maintenance please submit a request for the tree to be examined.
Forestry Services is responsible for removing stumps on municipal property, this includes parks, road allowances, and municipal woodlots. This work is scheduled and completed between May and November. The City does not remove stumps on private property.
Forestry staff are responsible for the maintenance of all municipal trees, and are committed to ensuring City trees remain in good health. If you suspect a tree is plagued with insects or identify a hazard such as a wasp nest, please submit a request to have the infestation examined.
Please note that not all insect infestations require intervention, and a Forestry Inspector will identify the best course of action after visiting the site.
After Forestry staff have performed clearing, pruning, and other maintenance activities, leftover wood and branched are piled for pickup. Please be advised that pickup usually occurs 2-3 business days after maintenance activities have taken place.
If you notice that a wood or brush pile has not been picked up after 3 business days, you may submit a request for brush or wood pickup.
Forestry staff are responsible for the maintenance of all municipal trees, and are committed to ensuring City trees remain in good health. If you suspect a municipal tree is in poor health, you can request that a Forestry Inspector visit the tree to determine its condition.
Trees can, at times, be planted and grow very close to a property line. If the tree is ever located inside of the property (but is not touching the property line) it is a private tree. If the tree is on the City portion of the property, it is the City's responsibility to maintain it.
If you are uncertain if a tree is privately or municipally owned, you may submit a request to have a Forestry inspector determine the ownership of a tree.
