Change of ownership

If you purchased property in the City of Ottawa, you must ensure that your property and contact information is up-to-date with City of Ottawa Revenue Services.

Before you begin

Your lawyer will register the sale with the Land Registry Office (LRO) of Ontario. The Municipal Property Assessment Corporation (MPAC) receives regular updates from the LRO and will in turn provide the City with the change of ownership information. The process takes on average 4-8 weeks to receive the updated information.

Cost

A $48 change of name fee applies. You will be billed separately from your tax roll.

Request

If the title of the property has not been updated within 8 weeks of the sale date OR if you have an urgent request to have it updated, you may send a copy of the land transfer documents to Revenue Services.
