Ottawa Fire Services will contact you within 3-5 business days to confirm your information and set up the session.

Depending on the session, the presenter may require access to a screen/smart board, projector or TV screen.

Virtual presentation

Ottawa Fire Services will contact you within 3-5 business days to confirm your information and set up the session.

Online meeting request

Requesters will be responsible for setting up a virtual meeting through Google Meet, Microsoft Teams or Zoom and for providing the meeting information to Ottawa Fire Services. Ottawa Fire Services does not have the ability to set up virtual meetings on behalf of the public.

Kinder fire safety presentation

Description of session

Curious young minds need fire safety messaging! A fun and interactive virtual or in-person fire safety presentation at a kindergarten level. After a four-minute Sparky video, we’ll discuss the following:

  • What to do in the event of a fire
  • Learn about firefighter gear
  • Our role as community helpers
  • Smoke and carbon monoxide alarms, etc.

Requirements

Clients must provide the following:

  • All fire extinguishers
    • 1 fire extinguisher is required for every 3 participants
  • Open outdoor area that is a minimum of 30 metres by 30 metres (approximately 100 feet by 100 feet)

Description of session

Enable your inner hero with a safe hands-on, propane fuelled outdoor fire extinguisher experience where participants can practice extinguishing a live fire. The instructor has full control of the actual fire via wireless remote throughout the training. We’ll discuss and practice the following:

  • Types, features and safe operation of fire extinguishers
  • Fire safety awareness

Clients must provide the following:

  • Indoor area that is a minimum of 3 metres by 3 metres (approximately 10 feet by 10 feet)
  • Access to a standard 120v electrical outlet

Description of session

Enable your inner hero with our in-person, hands-on, year-round, indoor laser fire extinguisher and digital fire simulator. We’ll discuss and practice the following:

  • Types, features and safe operation of fire extinguishers
  • Fire safety awareness
  • Use a laser beam generated, system-specific, hand-held fire extinguisher on an electronic simulator screen

Juvenile fire setter program

Description of session

If your child or teen is involved in fire-play or fire setting, you are not alone. A trained intervention specialist from the Fire Prevention Division is available to help. The specialist will schedule and attend:

  • An initial home visit where they will discuss the incident and conduct a fire safety audit of the home
  • A second meeting to discuss fire safety and assess progress
  • A third and final session to review and discuss all topics covered while keeping the child’s file confidential
